Tim Cahill has lived in Quincy, MA his entire life, currently with his wife Tina, with whom he has four daughters. He worked his way through Boston University, graduating in 1981 with a degree in Political Science. After an unsuccessful campaign for Quincy City Council, he and two high school friends started the Handshakes Café, a partnership which went on for the next ten years. After another bid for City Councilor in 1987, Cahill was elected and served until 2003. In 1996, he became Norfolk County Treasurer and in 2002, Massachusetts State Treasurer and Receiver General, an office which he still holds now.

Paul Loscocco graduated from Boston College summa cum laude in 1984 and Boston College Law School cum laude in 1987. He is the Senior Partner at the law firm Reimer & Braunstein LLP, where he focuses on commercial finance and real estate. In 2000, he was elected to the Massachusetts Legislature and served four terms as a State Representative. He lives in Holliston with his wife Ann-Marie and their three children.
