Nat Fortune received a bachelor’s degree in Physics from Swarthmore College in 1983 and went on to get his Ph.D. in Physics from Boston University in 1989. After that, he worked for Electrotechnical Laboratory in Tsukuba, Japan for five years until 1994 when he entered Smith College’s Department of Physics, where he is now an associate professor. Fortune and his wife Joyce live with their two children in Whately, where they are both involved in the community there. He has served on Whately’s school committee since 2003 and is now its Chairman.
